At Larchmont, my mentor teacher was Ms. Philips, and I taught a class to her 4th grade math class. The topic that I taught was dividing up to the hundredth’s place. For the teach, I used an activity involving splitting a set number of blocks evenly onto cookies.
At Blair, my mentor teacher was Ms. Reed, and I taught two classes to her 6th grade math class. The first topic was creating circle graphs, and the second graph was solving one-step equations. For the first teach, I used an activity in which students created their own data to make their own circle graphs. The second teach, we connected properties to equations.
At Maury, my mentor teacher was Mr. Sanzo, and I taught two classes for his algebra I class. The first topic was teaching multi-step linear equations, and then second graph was identifying domain, range, and intercepts. For the first teach, I used a match the answer to the right problem by using the program Desmos to check their answer. For the second teach, I showed the students various relations and had them identify if the relation was a function or not.
